A Uniqlo outlet in Beijing (Source: https://asia.nikkei.com) Hanoi (VNA) - Fast Retailing Co. of Japansaid it is partnering with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) toimprove working environment for workers in Asian countries, Kyodo Newsreported.
This is considered part of efforts of companies and organisations to protectinterest of labourers in countries where social security systems areunderdeveloped.
In its statement on September 4, Fast Retailing, said in the next twoyears, the firms will provide 1.8 million USD in funding for ILO research onthe labour markets and social security systems in Bangladesh, Cambodia, China,India, Indonesia, Myanmar and Vietnam, countries where Japanese firms have theirfactories.
Underthe partnership, Fast Retailing and ILO will helppromote employment insurance in Indonesia, where garment workers are at highrisk of losing jobs.
TadashiYanai, Chairman and CEO of Fast Retailing said through cooperation with ILO,the firm hopes to expand its impact and findsolutions to issues faced by workers in Asia through systemic social protectionmeasures and improved working environment across the region.
According to Yanai, it is important toensure decent working environment and to protect rights of workers in order to realisesustainable growth in Asia.
