A wide variety of Japanese handicrafts are being on display at the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Hanoi.
Opened on April 23, the exhibition, themed “Japan Handmade: Crafts & Design from Kyoto”, is part of activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties.
It showcases a number of handicrafts made by young artisans from Kyoto, the former imperial capital of Japan , which is world-renowned for traditional crafts and craftsmen.
The exhibits reflect the artisans’ efforts in applying the time-honoured techniques of Japanese art and craft to create inspiring new designs with contemporary international appeal.
The exhibition, jointly organised by the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange, Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts and the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, will last until May 12.-VNA
