Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Masaharu Nakagawa, visited the Rubber Research Institute of Vietnam on Jan. 9.
The institute is responsible for researching the cooperative “Carbon Cycle System with Natural Rubber” project with leading scientists from Nagaoka University of Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the Rubber Research Institute, aiming at establishing a modern natural rubber production system.
Professor Fukuda of the Nagaoka University of Technology said the project will develop new methods of natural rubber production as well as advanced technology for rubber wastewater treatment, a process that produces methane, helping reduce consumption of synthetic rubber and the release of carbon dioxide.
It is expected that the project will contribute to minimising global warming and dealing with environmental issues such as water pollution./.
