The President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance (JVFPA), Takebe Tsutomu, has said he believes that two way trade and economic ties between both countries will grow ceaselessly, despite the global economic meltdown.
At a reception hosted by Former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai in Ho Chi Minh City on March 1, Takebe Tsutomu, who is also a former Secretary General of Japan’s Liberal Democrat Party, thanked the Vietnamese people for their valuable assistance and support after Japan was devastated by an earthquake and tsunami last March.
Former PM Khai responded by thanking the Japanese Government for increasing the amount of official development assistance (ODA) allocated to Vietnam as well as the rise in capital being made possible by Japanese investors in the country.
Khai said that the Vietnamese people are full of admiration at the way the Japanese people remain composed and the fortitude they display when getting their country back to normal after the aftermath of last year’s natural disasters.-VNA
