Eight provincial governors and 16 senior police officers will be sent to work at the Interior Ministry and National Police headquarters respectively.

The governors will be moved from June 2, while police transfers took effect from the evening of May 27.

In another move, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), has set out eight measures to promote national unity by stamping out political and social divisions and targeting national reform.

The Bangkok Post on May 28 quoted deputy army spokesman Winthai Suvaree as saying that promoting national unity is a part of the NCPO's plan to end the country's political conflict, and the first step of the plan is to take control of national administration.

Meanwhile, a new curfew time from midnight to 4 a.m was applied from May 28.-VNA
