Kuwaiti Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Omar Al-Qenael has expressed his hope that trade with Vietnam will top 1 billion USD in the coming years.
At the February 25 ceremony marking the 53rd National Day and the 23rd anniversary of the Liberation Day of Kuwait, Omar Al-Qenael noted that the Kuwait – Vietnam ties have come a long way throughout decades, with some 740 million USD in two-way trade made in 2013.
He mentioned the Nghi Son oil refinery and petrochemical complex as one of Kuwait’s high-profile joint ventures in Vietnam.
Towards the expected goal, Vietnamese firms should be more proactive in market survey and marketing their products in Kuwait via trade fairs or exhibitions, the diplomat advised, adding that these venues provide a helpful platform for information sharing.
Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem, in his remark, said the City is always ready to welcome Kuwait investors with all possible incentives.
He highly valued the Consul General’s idea of calling for Vietnamese investors to come to Kuwait to directly seek opportunities.
Liem also took the occasion to congratulate what Kuwait has gained in the past, including an economic growth of 4.5 percent last year, the second highest in the Persian Gulf.
He showed his upbeat that bilateral ties will become expansive on the back of their potential and ever-growing development.-VNA
