Bangkok (VNA) – La Nina is set to affect Thailand from July until January 2025 and bring more rain than usual to the northern and north-eastern regions until October, according to the weather forecast by the Meteorological Department.
The department’s chief Kanrawee Sitthichawapak said El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO), which is currently looming over Thailand, will soon turn into La Nina.
She said the ENSO phenomenon is normal, with the temperature of the Pacific Ocean in the tropical zone cooling down by an average of -0.9oC – 0.5oC over the past month.
Temperatures from July to October are forecast to be 0.2oC -1oC s higher than normal.
By comparison, there will be more rain through July and August than last year, but there will be less rainfall than last year from September to November./.
