Exporters from the Central Highland province of Lam Dong grossed over 332 million USD in earnings in January-August, a year-on-year increase of 76 percent.
In August alone, exports rose 116.6 percent to hit 44.3 million USD, driven by farm produce. Coffee was the biggest contributor when it accounted for 45 percent of the total turnover, according to the provincial People’s Committee.
Over the past eight months, 68,000 tonnes of coffee were sold abroad, up 31.2 percent, mainly to the EU, the Middle East and some Asian and Latin American countries.
Other produce such as fruits and vegetables, tea, cashew nuts, and fresh flowers registered encouraging growths of 26.9 percent, 12.1 percent, 27.3 percent, and 15.1 percent in volume, respectively.
The province exported over 258,000 tonnes of aluminium in the reviewed period for 81.3 million USD – which makes up around one quarter of its exports.
Textile, handicrafts and seafood were also shipped to Japan, the US, the Republic of Korea, and the EU.
