Vientiane (VNA) – The Lao National Assembly opened its 10th session on October 27 with a focus on economic recovery measures following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairwoman of the Lao NA Pany Yathotou said the meeting is expected to consider and adopt the socio-economic development report in 2020 and socio-economic development plan for 2021, the budget report in 2020 and budget plan for 2021, the draft five-year socio-economic development plan, the 2021-2025 national budget plan.
The meeting will also ratify the planning of Vientiane capital, reports on the results of State budget audit 2020, the 2021 audit plan, four new laws and one revised law.
Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith said Laos' economic growth is forecast to reach about 3.3-3.6 percent this year, equivalent to over 17 billion USD due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
By late September, total State revenue reached nearly 14.7 billion USD, or 64.57 percent of the adjusted plan while expenditure neared 18 billion USD, or 54.18 percent.
The session will last until November 17./.
