The 7th National Assembly of Laos began its eighth session in Vientiane on December 9, planning to discuss key socio-economic issues with a focus on how to fulfill the country’s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
At the opening ceremony, NA Chairwoman Pany Yathotou briefed of the session’s agenda, which will include reports on labour affairs and the fulfillment of the State budget plan in the 2012-2013 fiscal year.
Deputies are expected to debate seven draft laws, including four new ones relating to the management of foreign currency, entry-exit activity and foreigners, alcohol beverage control, and anti-violence against women and children.
The Chairwoman called on deputies to brainstorm to come up with constructive ideas to the debated issues.
The session will run until December 26.-VNA
