Lao top legislator lauds Vietnamese-Lao judicial cooperation

Good outcomes of joint projects between the Vietnamese and Lao justice ministries have contributed to strengthening bilateral solidarity, said Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotou.

Vientiane (VNA) – Goodoutcomes of joint projects between the Vietnamese and Lao justice ministrieshave contributed to strengthening solidarity between the two parties,governments and peoples, said Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly PanyYathotou.

She made the statement while receiving adelegation from the Vietnam Ministry of Justice led by Minister Le Thanh Longin Vientiane on November 27.

She thanked the Vietnamese Government andthe judicial sector for their support to Laos, while asking the ministry tohelp Laos draft an amended law on enforcement of civil judgments and build itscivil code.

She called on justice departments ofprovinces bordering Laos to boost engagements and experience exchanges.

The legislator noted the Lao NationalAssembly has learned from law-making activities of the Vietnamese parliament.

For his part, Minister Long told his hostabout outcomes of the talks between the two ministries and their joint tasksset for the upcoming time.

According to the official, the judicial bodieswould work to effectively implement the Vietnam – Laos agreement of mutual judicialassistance in civil and criminal matters. They would work closely to organisethe 4th justice conference between provinces bordering Laos.

Vietnam is willing to help Laos build a lawon enforcement of civil judgments, he stressed, asking the Lao side to supportVietnamese expatriates in obtaining the country’s citizenship.

In the morning of the same day, theVietnamese delegation held talks with its Lao counterpart, headed by MinisterSayxi Santivong. They signed a cooperation pact for 2018 at the function.

On the occasion, the Vietnam Ministry ofJustice presented to the Lao agency 30 sets of computers, 10 printers, and onephotocopier.

On November 28, the delegation will bereceived by Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and attend a meeting marking35-year Vietnam – Laos justice cooperation at ministerial level.-VNA
