Vientiane (VNA) –
The Ministry of Home Affairs of Laos will join hands with relevant agencies to implement legal documents related to the issuance of ID cards for civil servants and officials.

Designed to simplify life for officials, the new smart card is in line with the government’s policy to modernise the management of the civil service.

Accordingly, the Lao Government will combine social security and ATM cards as one. The move aims to regulate the number of Lao civil servants in ministries and departments at central and provincial levels.

Under this system, authorities can scrutinise precise information pertaining to officials employed by the government and add new data every quarter.

Discrepancies will soon be addressed under the new system as the government is keen to move towards transparency in civil servant management.

It is also essential for State departments to routinely inspect and update civil servant numbers, in order to rectify and regulate the number of officials being reported. –VNA
