Over 3.2 million voters throughout Laos on April 30 cast their ballots to elect 132 new deputies for the seventh National Assembly, Laos’ legislative body.
General Secretary of the ruling Lao People's Revolutionary Party and State President Chummaly Sayasone who cast his ballot in Chengsavang, Sikhottabong districts 20 km from Vientiane’s centre said after voting that the event is considered to be a grand festival for the people.
He added that to better develop the nation, the Lao people need good and suitable representatives who understand them and are willing to discuss their problems.
The National Assembly is the representative body of the Lao people, undertaking key policy, constitutional and legal decisions and overseeing the government’s activities./.
