Vientiane (VNA) – The Lao Ministry of Education and Sports has introduced measures and guidelines for the safe reopening of schools nationwide amid the growing complexity of COVID-19.
Accordingly, schools will be allowed to reopen on a pilot basis after they set specific timetables and virus control plans and provide necessary materials for the prevention of infections.
Virus control and reopening plans of each school will be reviewed and approved by health authorities before they take effect.
Schools meeting 70 percent of the Health Ministry’s assessment indicators will be enabled to resume in-person learning from January 10, 2022. Their eligibility will be re-reviewed twice per week for the revision of virus measures.
Laos reported 1,471 new COVID-19 cases on December 23, 130 cases higher than that of the previous day. The country has to date logged 103,336 COVID-19 cases, including 299 deaths./.
