Da Nang is conducting a pre-feasibility study on bus rapid transit (BRT) systems as part of a 300 million USD project funded by the World Bank to help it grow in a sustainable way.
The study was reported at a workshop held in the nation’s largest seaport city on August 5, which aims to improve the municipal public transportation system and work out corridors prioritised for pilot BRT lines.
The pre-feasibility study has collected experiences from experts, both international and domestic, and State management agencies in the area of public transportation, in order to make skeleton designs of public transportation systems, focusing on BRT lines, work efficiently.
The overall project on sustainable development for Da Nang also aims to improve the municipal environment, focusing on garbage collection, liquid waste treatment and stormwater drainage as well as measures to control floods and storms and cope with climate change.
The project will also help improve the city’s competence and legal system, especially in transport and urban management./.
