Some of them have also displayed their works at prestigious exhibitions both in and outside the country, and have won prizes for earthenware works. The Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts was founded in 1965, but its predecessor, named ‘Quoc gia my nghe’ (National Fine Arts School), was established on July 8, 1949, training artisans in some handicraft and fine arts occupations such as lacquer making, gold inlay, carpet weaving and carpentry. An artwork named Tieng Vong (Echo) by artist Phan Thanh Son, born 1974, a lecturer in ceramics at the Faculty of Traditional Fine Arts. Son himself has held four solo shows, all entitled Choi dat (Playing with soil). The first show was in 2007, the second one came in 2013, the third in 2015 and the fourth in 2019. He graduated from the Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts in 1997. The Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts has a long history. The work ‘Gio cao nguyen’ (Highland wind) by artist Phan Thanh Son. He said in the finiteness of the five different shades of ceramics, the artists’ ultimate goal is to let each piece tell its own story or the narrative of the soloists in the boundless immensity of art. The work “Dan ca” (Shoal of fish) by artist Vu Huu Nhung from the Faculty of Interior and Exterior Decoration. Nhung is considered the person who revived the traditional pottery village of Phu Lang in the northern province of Bac Ninh. Keen to retain the local craft tradition of his home village and at the same time add a modern touch, Nhung created a completely new range of Phu Lang products that focused on decorative items like ceramic paintings, murals, and sculptures. He is considered the person who revived the traditional pottery village of Phu Lang in the northern province of Bac Ninh.
