Long An farmers win awards from Youfarm short film project

Four farmers participating in the film project called “Youfarm- Canh dong que toi” ( Youfarm- Paddy Fields in my Hometown), the first of its kind in Vietnam, were granted awards at a ceremony held in the Mekong Delta province of Long An on July 3.

First prize belonged to “Chava con- The farmer and his son” by Huynh Van Nen. “Tren canh dong chaong- Develop father’s rice and homeland” by Nguyen Van Thanh was insecond while, “Nha nong va cong nghe- Technology and farming” by DuongVan Uoc and “Ruong nha toi- My farming My Family” by Duong Thi Suareceived the third and fourth prizes.

All the films, made by thefarmers with the support from three emerging Vietnamese directors, areabout the famers’ field works, cultivation and daily lives.

Accordingto the number of votes from the website of International Youfarmcompetition, two clips of Vietnamese farmers have been listed in top 30of the global competition.

The annual competition, initiated byBayer CropScience, aims to improve public understanding about farmers’roles in society. “Farm and Family” is the theme of this year’s event,which was chosen by 500 million family farms worldwide.

The competition’s winner will be announced in August. The first prizewinner will be granted the “Farmer around the Continent” tour,travelling through Asia (starting from Canberra, Australia) and visitingfarms and other great sites.-VNA

Vietnam, Japan strengthen cooperation in leadership training

Vietnam Fisheries Society protests China’s unilateral fishing ban in East Sea

The society stressed that the ban is unilateral and unjustified; seriously infringes upon Vietnam’s sovereignty, rights and legitimate interests; violates international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS); and runs counter to the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).

📝OP-ED: Freedom of belief and religion in Vietnam cannot be distorted

Child rights association puts online safety at forefront
