Long An (VNA) – Southern Long An’s authorities and businesses met Vietnamese trade counsellors and attachés, who are about to start their missions overseas, in Tan An City on January 12, seeking their help to step up export.

Participating local enterprises expressed their concerns over commercial barriers and difficult distribution in some foreign markets, asking for support from the trade officials in their search for market information and potential partners.

Trade counsellors and attachés, for their part, said foreign markets, such as Russia, Australia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, have huge demand for Vietnamese products.

They, however, pointed out that the locally-made commodities often fail to pass these markets’ import specifications, thus greater efforts must be made to overhaul production and boost quality.

The officials pledged to do their utmost to facilitate the export and distribution of Vietnamese products abroad.

According to Nguyen Xuan Hong, deputy head of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade said Long An has thus far exported its commodities to more than 110 countries and territories, with revenue reaching nearly 3.7 billion USD in 2015.

The major obstacle facing the province overseas is the distribution of local exports, particularly agricultural produce.-VNA
