Hanoi (VNA) – Despite impacts of theCOVID-19 pandemic, industrial production in the Mekong Delta province ofLong An still maintains a positive growth, according to the provincialDepartment of Industry and Trade.
The province’s index of industrial production (IIP) in thefirst six months of this year is estimated to enjoy a year-on-year rise of 7.5percent and the export turnover reached 3.29 billion USD, up 17.17 percent.
It is noteworthy that 50 out of 73 groups of industrial products recorded growth including animal feed, bottled beer,natural fiber production, footwear, and plastic production.
The growth in industrial production and exports is a positive signal of the province's endeavours to fufill the double goals ofmaintaining production and pandemic prevention and control at the same time.
According to Nguyen Anh Viet, Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to becomplicated, negatively affecting the production and business activities ofenterprises. Therefore, there is a possibility that the target of an increase of between 11.5-12 percent in IIP this year might not be fulfilled.
However, units and localities in the province will focus efforts onimplementing solutions to achieve ensure a rise of atleast 7.5 percent.
In the last months of this year, they will continue tostrictly carry out the COVID-19 prevention and control work, especiallystrengthening monitoring of the activities at industrial zones and clusters.
Enterprises will get support in making production and business plans relevant todomestic and foreign market development, Viet said.
An inter-sectoral team will also be set up to survey theproduction and business activities of local enterprises with a view to timely removing arising difficulties, he said./.
