About 3billion RM annually has been set under the 11MP, which outlines economicgrowth plans between 2016 and 2020, to createenvironmentally-sustainable development, Director-General of theEconomic Planning Unit Datuk Seri Dr Rahamat Bivi Yusoff said at theTowards Green Growth in Malaysia Conference on April 21.
The main focus is on sustainable consumption and production, meaningthat high productivity and quality with less resources and very minimalpollution, the Director General said.
Rahamat BiviYusoff stressed the need for greater commitment from state and localauthorities as well as the private sector and the public to ensuregreener growth.
The society and people at large willalso need to play their part, particularly in terms of their lifestyleand daily practices, she added.-VNA
