Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – The Governments ofMalaysia and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding on water resources inKuala Lumpur on April 10.
Malaysian Minister of Natural Resources and theEnvironment Wan JunaidiTuanku Jaafar said his ministry has cooperated with China via a committee knownas the Typhoon Committee, which was set up by the United Nation in 1968, butthe new MoU marks the formal cooperation between the two countries.
He added that thesigning of the MoU provides a good chance for Malaysia to access China’s professionalknowledge in this field.
Under the MoU,the two countries can share technologies and expertise in integrated management,preservation and protection of water resources, response to climate change, anddrought and flood control.
The documentalso serves as the foundation for technical and research cooperation betweentheir water resource agencies.-VNA
