Malaysia and Indonesia deployed a joint military exercise, named Malindo Latgabma Darsana 7AB/2010, in the Malaysian state of Malacca on April 2.

Themed "Combined Joint Task Force - Counter Terrorism", the manoeuvres have drawn the participation of 1,243 soldiers from the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and 452 members from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (INAF).

The exercise is aimed at gauging the capabilities of the MAF and INAF in conducting joint actions to tackle violence in the two countries’ territories.

The field training exercise includes responding to terrorist attacks on buildings, ships, and planes, as well as nuclear, biological and chemical storages.

The manoeuvres are scheduled to run through April 10./.
