Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia enjoys better international recognition now due to strategic cooperation with major powers such as China and Russia.
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said the cooperation does not affect existing relations with Malaysia’s traditional trading partners, including ASEAN, Europe and the US.
Speaking with the press on September 9, the PM emphasised that the principle of neutrality, a key pillar of the country's foreign policy, must be practically maintained to ensure national peace and security. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of equipping the younger generation with new skills, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, and energy.
He further noted that Malaysia's international recognition is strengthened by cooperation with the US, especially through projects like Boeing's recent initiatives.
On August 29, Boeing renamed its manufacturing facility in Kedah, Malaysia, from Bukit Kayu Hitam to Boeing Composites Malaysia and fully acquired Aerospace Composites Malaysia Sdn Bhd in December 2023. This facility produces composite materials for Boeing’s aircraft, including the 737 MAX and 787 Dreamliner, and employs around 1,000 Malaysians./.
