In a report on recent terrorism-related cases, the courtsaid it has issued heavier sentences for IS supporters since the beginning of2016.
In the latest case recorded, the Kuala Lumpur High Courtsentenced house builder Muhammad Kasyfullah Kassim, 38, to five yearsimprisonment for supporting IS activities in Syria. The sentence later changedto 12 years by the Court of Appeal.
In another case, the Court of Appeal increased a jail term forfinancial consultant Rohaimi Abd Rahim,39, and cafe manager Muhamad FauziMisrak, 37, who were convicted of making financial contributions to the IS,from three years to 15 years.
Oil palm plantation operator Muamar Gadaffi Mohamad Shafawi,32, also faced the same judgment and had his prison term increased three-foldto 15 years, for training individuals for terrorist activities.
Meanwhile, policewoman Jusninawati Abdul Gani, 35, who wasfound guilty of failing to divulge information on a terrorist group, have been punishedwith the maximum seven years in prison for her criminal charge.-VNA
