Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysian Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has announced that approximately 13,000 officers and personnel from the Malaysian Border Security Agency will be deployed in phases across 143 entry points nationwide, starting in January 2025.
Speaking to the press on October 20, Minister Saifuddin revealed that the first phase will involve the deployment of at least 104 officers at five entry and exit points. The first location to see these reinforcements will be Rantau Panjang in Kelantan, which borders Thailand.
On February 1, 2025, four additional entry points will receive personnel, including terminals 1 and 2 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex in Johor Baru Sentral, Tanjung Pelepas Port, and Bukit Kayu Hitam near the Singapore border.
In August 2023, the Senate passed the Malaysia border and protection agency bill after it was approved by the House of Representatives./.
