The Malaysian government has approved a proposal permitting foreign skilled labourers to extend their working time in the country.
Malaysia ’s ruling alliance said on January 12 that the permission aims to solve the serious labour shortage in the country.
According to Chua Soi Lek, Chairman of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), at present, Malaysian small and medium enterprises seriously lack workers, as a result, the Malaysian government allowed foreign skilled labourers to stay in Malaysia by another three to five years from the current regulation of five years.
Moreover, the government will also permit all enterprises to recruit the same of new workers with the number of labourers having to leave at the end of their working permit./.
