He said the ministry is aware of problems in the system governing the recruitmentof foreign workers, especially those involving middlemen.
The issue has become severe as the Nepal government recently suspended the exportof workers to Malaysia, affecting the Southeast Asia.
Apart from Nepal, other countries, including Bangladesh, Cambodia and Indonesia,are showing dissatisfaction in sending workers to Malaysia, according to theminister.
Minister Kulasegaran said authorised agencies are in the process of drafting a policy on how to manage the import of foreignworkers from the source countries. The Malaysian government is lookingfor mechanisms to simplify the procedures related to importing foreign workers,including the elimination of a third party.
There are about 1.8 million legal foreign workers in Malaysia.-VNA
