Kuala Lumpur (VNA)– The Parliament of Malaysia sat for the first time on May 18 since the PNgovernment came to power, with King Yangdi-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah’s speech being the only item on agenda.
Themeeting, initially scheduled to take place from May 9 to April 16, was suspended to May 18due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It hadplanned to look into four proposals and two draft laws. However, after Speaker ofthe House of Representatives Mohamad Ariff Mohd Yusof accepted former PrimeMinister Mahathir Mohamad’s proposed vote of no-confidence against incumbent PMMuhyiddin Yassin, the government decided to shorten the initial agenda.
Earlier, at a meeting with leaders of parties under the PakatanHarapan (PH) coalition onMay 17, Mahathir again opposed the government led by Muhyiddin. After themeeting, he and President of the SabahHeritage Party Shafie Apdal said the Muhyiddin-led government lackslegitimacy./.
