Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on June 25 announced a cabinet reshuffle in an attempt to enhance the inclusivity of the Government.
Accordingly, Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) president Liow Tiong Lai was named as the new transport minister.
Meanwhile, his deputy Wee Ka Siong and president of the Gerakan party Mah Siew Keong will take over the positions of minister in the Prime Minister's Department.
Three other MCA vice presidents were appointed to the posts of deputy minister.
Last year, the MCA declined to accept any cabinet posts due to its poor performance in the 13th general election in May.
However, it reversed the decision in February.
The newly appointed officials are scheduled to be sworn into office at a ceremony on June 27.-VNA
