Vietnam suppliers who participated in a free training workshop held recently in Hanoi plan to apply the marketing measures to their businesses.
The workshop, titled "How to Win More Export Orders", was co-organised by Kearny Alliance, a US-based non-profit organisation, and Protec, a helmet manufacturer under the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation.
Some 85 percent of the suppliers participating in the workshop said the event had provided them with useful information on different marketing techniques that could add great value to their businesses, a workshop survey showed.
Nguyen Hai Nam , export manager of Thai Son 88 JSC, said: "The workshop addressed our unanswered concerns over a period of years about managing our marketing and sales activities."
"Kearny Alliance described sales opportunities in the world market and taught us how to stand out to get what we want," he said.
Le Dung, export specialist of Goldsun, said the workshop content was logical, informative and export-related.
"Our aim is to help Vietnam 's small- and medium-sized manufacturers be more effective and profitable in today's fiercely competitive export environment," said Alexander Boome, programme director of the Kearny Alliance in Asia .
"Export marketing and inquiry management skills training are the core components of our mission of Aid Through Trade."
Participants learned about integrated export marketing concepts and buyer inquiry management skills, Vu Ngoc Khiem, manager of Kearny Alliance's Developing Country Export Assistance Programme in Asia , said.
The aim of the training was to give local suppliers tools to use to generate more sales and create more jobs.
Na Huong, deputy general director of the Protec, said: "As one of the beneficiaries of the Kearny Alliance and Global Sources, we are proud to receive their marketing boost to tap new markets for our tropical helmets."
The Kearny Alliance team is scheduling a second workshop on the same topic in HCM City early next year.
All suppliers participating in the workshop are beneficiaries of the Developing Country Export Assistance Programme opened in Vietnam in 2008 by the Kearny Alliance.
This programme includes the marketing websites on Global Sources Online and exposure in printed Vietnam Sourcing Report that are offered free of charge by Global Sources, a Hong Kong-based B2B media company./.
