Taekwondo and Vovinam artists added two more golds to Vietnam’s medal tally on December 20.
Le Huynh Chau won the first gold of the day after defeating his Malaysian rival 6 – 1 in the 63kg category of men’s Taekwondo.
Beating her Lao contender, Nguyen Thi Quyen Chan was awarded the other gold medal in the women’s 60kg event of Vovinam (Vietnamese martial arts).
However, in the men’s 55kg Vovinam category, Tran Anh Tuan lost 0 – 1 to another Lao artist and received a silver medal.
In the final of the 49kg category in women’s Taekwondo, Doan Thi Huong Giang led her Thai rival by 4 to 0 but lost 7 – 10 in the end, bringing silver to Vietnam .
In the Futsal women’s team event, Vietnam unsurprisingly ranked second after suffering a 0 – 5 defeat to Thai players.
Failing to surpass Indonesia, Dao Thien Hai and Hoang Thi Nhu Y pocketed only a silver in the Chess Mixed Pair Transfer Blitz, a new event in the SEA Games.
As of 4.30pm, Vietnam ranked third in the medal tally with 65 gold, 67 silver and 71 bronze medals, after Thailand (86 golds) and host Myanmar (68 golds).-VNA
