Just a 15-minute boat ride across the Thu Bon River from the ancient town of Hoi An, Kim Bong carpentry village is renowned for its wood workings and sculptures.

Established in the 15th century, it reached its peak in the 18th century, during the time village craftsmen contributed their skills in woodworking to many projects, including the Imperial capital in Hue.

The village was once on the edge of falling into oblivion, but it has been restored to its former glory thanks to great efforts made by local authorities and artisans.

Hoi An has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. From then, Kim Bong artisans have made a vital contribution to the restoration of historic buildings.

Now the carpentry village has revived and become a popular attraction for many domestic and foreign visitors./.
