Men dress up gracefully to perform dance at village festival

The Trieu Khuc Village Festival in Thanh Tri district stands out as one of Hanoi's most celebrated village festivals today, largely due to the "Con di danh bong" dance. This dance is among the ten ancient dances that were prominent in Thang Long and have been preserved up to the present day.

The annual event is held from the 9th to 12th day of the first lunar month, honoring the hero Phung Hung. During the festival, men dress as soldiers who disguised themselves as women to entertain the king and comrades.

The performance has been passed down through many generations and is now one of the highlights of the Trieu Khuc village festival.

This dance is typically performed by young unmarried men from the village. 3-4 pairs of men dance together, displaying fluid movements with an emphasis on charm and elegance.

Alongside the dance, the Trieu Khuc village festival aims to attract not only locals but also increasingly garner attention from tourists, both domestically and abroad./.
