The German automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has become the new sponsor of the Vietnamese men's Davis Cup tennis team, according to the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF).
As a new sponsor, the German side hopes it can help Vietnamese tennis players sharpen their skills in both the domestic and international arena, claimed the company’s Sales and Marketing Director Dirk Adelmann.
The automobile giant will assist the local team – which has been renamed the Davis Cup Mercedes Benz Vietnam team - in preparation for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Group II qualifying match against Pakistan, which will take place on February 14 in the Central Highlands city of Da Lat.
The Vietnamese team’s coach Michael Baroch said he is very excited about the opportunities that will arise from the link-up with Mercedes, voicing his hope that the relationship will help continue the fine progress made by his squad in the past year.-VNA
