Mexican Senator: Vietnam a land of opportunity

Talking to the press in Hanoi on June 16, Senator Alberto Anaya Gutierrez said increasing and developing comprehensive relations between Mexico and Vietnam would benefit people in both two countries.

He noted the annual average economic growth of 7 percent over the past 20 years and resolve to boost the renewal process delivered at on the 11 th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam as good foundations for Vietnam to become a modern industrialised country by 2020.

“We believe that Vietnam will become an Asian tiger in the future with potential for greater development,” the senator said.

He expressed his wish to boost bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, science, technology and culture, especially promoting visits by business missions to seek opportunities for investment and set up joint venture companies.

Vietnam and Mexico have delivered proposals for cooperation in aquaculture, agriculture, rubber and health, with a focus on development of acupuncture in Mexico , he said.

Regarding the situation in the East Sea , the Mexican Senator said that as fraternal nations under the leadership of fraternal communist parties, Vietnam and China needed to solve disputes through dialogue mechanisms and political measures within the China-ASEAN dialogue framework or through international tribunals based on respect for international law. “Laws, history and truth must belong to Vietnam ,” he said.

During his visit to Vietnam from June 14-16, General Secretary Alberto Anaya met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, talked with Truong Tan Sang, Politburo member and standing member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee.

He also had working sessions with the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations and Commission for Popularisation and Education and visited Vietnam News Agency./.
