President Truong Tan Sang presented promotion decisions to nine high-ranking military and police officers at a ceremony in Hanoi on December 5.
Eight officers were promoted to Senior Lieutenant General rank. They are Tran Dai Quang, Minister of Public Security; Dang Van Hieu, Permanent Deputy Minister of Public Security; Ngo Xuan Lich, Chief of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army; Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army; and Deputy Ministers of National Defence Nguyen Thanh Cung, Truong Quang Khanh, Nguyen Chi Vinh and Le Huu Duc.
Deputy Minister of National Defence and Chief of the Navy Nguyen Van Hien was promoted to Admiral rank.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Sang said the promotion represents the acknowledgement of the Party, State and people for the contributions and advancement of each officer in particular and the people’s armed forces in general.
He asked the promoted officers to further heighten their political perception, revolutionary morals and professional knowledge to excellently accomplish all tasks entrusted by the Party and State./.
