A delegation of the State Steering Committee on National Action Programme on settling consequences caused by unexploded ordinance (or Steering Board 504) is paying a working visit to the US beginning on July 14 with the aim to speed up the assistance to Vietnam in overcoming the aftermath of bombs and mines left by the war.
During the ten-day visit, the delegation, led by Defence Deputy Minister Sen. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh, who is also head of the committee, will talk with representatives from the US Departments of Defence, of State and of Labour and a number of US Congressmen.
Vinh and his entourage will hold working sessions with the United Nations Development Programme, the UN Mine Action Service (UNMAS), and t he Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO).
They will also visit a number of mine clearance research and technology development agents of the US Department of Defence.-VNA
