The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on January 12 announced top ten cultural, sport and tourism events in 2018.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on January 12 announced topten cultural, sport and tourism events in 2018.

These events were selected via the website: http://sukienvhttdl.bvhttdl.gov.vnfrom January 3-8 and direct votes by representative of central and Hanoi pressoutlets following the submission of the culture, sports, and tourismdepartments of cities and provinces, and agencies of the ministry.

In the cultural sphere, five events are named, including Da Nang InternationalFireworks Festival 2018; Non Nuoc Cao Bang receiving UNESCO Global Geoparktitle; unique contemporary art space inside the National Assembly House; first-timeawarding the title “People’s Artisan” in intangible cultural heritage; Vietnamesebeauty earning a  niche in the global mapof beauty.

Three sports events were selected, namely Asian Games 18 – the most successful AsianGames of Vietnam’s sports sector; the national men’s team winning AFF SuzukiCup after a decade; and Vietnam becoming the runner-up at the Asian FootballConfederation (AFC) U23 Championship for the first time.

Meanwhile, there aretwo events in tourism, including Vietnam welcoming 15 million internationalvisitors in 2018 and Vietnam winning the award for Asia’s Leading Destination atthe 2018 World Travel Awards (WTA).-VNA
