Ministry transfers rights to purchase Vietnam Airlines’ shares

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) will transfer its rights to purchase shares additionally issued by the Vietnam Airlines Corporation through auction at the Hanoi Stock Exchange.

 Hanoi (VNA) - The Ministry of Transport (MoT) will transfer its rights to purchase shares additionally issued by the Vietnam Airlines Corporation through auction at the Hanoi Stock Exchange.

Under its plan, the MoT, as Vietnam Airlines’ State stakeholder, will auction 371.5 million share purchase rights, an equivalent to 57.9 million additional shares in Vietnam Airlines’ upcoming share issue. 

Individual and organisations, including overseas Vietnamese and foreigners who meet the conditions as prescribed by the law, will be eligible to buy the rights.

In July 2017, Vietnam Airlines decided to issue over 191 million shares to existing shareholders at the ratio of 15.57 per cent to raise charter capital. The issue, expected in the last quarter of 2017, however has yet to be implemented.

The State now holds 86.16 percent of Vietnam Airlines charter capital which is nearly 12.3 trillion VND after equitisation. If the State shareholder do not exercise their rights to purchase shares in Vietnam Airlines’ upcoming share issue, the State ownership in the national flag carriers will decrease.-VNA

More preferential credit available to businesses

Under SBV requirements, commercial banks are to provide Vietnamese-dong loans to SMEs and growth-driving sectors at rates at least 1 percentage point per year lower than their average rates for loans of the same maturity. They are also required to consider waiving or reducing service fees for eligible customers in line with regulations and their financial capacity.

Vietnam, UK seek new growth drivers in technology, logistics

Over 60% of long-stalled projects have obstacles resolved

Of the 8,002 long-stalled projects, 4,938 completed the settlement of obstacles in line with conclusions of the Party Central Committee and resolutions of the National Assembly and Government, as well as relevant Government decrees and guiding documents as of July 20, up 564 projects from the previous month.

Vietnam Railways Corporation becomes Vietnam National Railway Group

The group inherits all rights, obligations and responsibilities of the Vietnam Railways Corporation in accordance with the laws on railways, enterprises, and management and investment of state capital in enterprises, and other relevant legal provisions, as well as existing agreements, documents and contracts signed with related parties in accordance with the law.

Vietnam, New Zealand seek new impetus for trade ties

The state visit to New Zealand by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and President To Lam is expected to provide fresh impetus for market opening, removal of trade barriers and stronger economic links following the elevation of bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in February 2025.

Ho Chi Minh City to integrate IoT into smart transport infrastructure

To promote IoT application in smart transport, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Chairman has assigned the Department of Construction to lead the deployment of IoT in the construction, management, operation and maintenance of transport infrastructure. The department will also review and propose integrating IoT sensors and smart monitoring devices into transport construction, renovation and upgrading projects across the city.
