Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese lifter Nguyen Binh Anon December 7 won a silver medal in the men’s 54kg category at the ongoingWorld Para Weightlifting Championships 2017 in Mexico City.

An bagged the medal after lifting of 178kgat the final round of 184kg.

After six days of competition, Vietnamseized one gold and two silver medals, and broke a world record.

Lifter Le Van Cong, on December 4, made anew world’s record in the men’s 49kg category after securing his best score atthe fourth lifting with 183.5kg, surpassing all rivals and breaking the world’sand also his own record (183kg) set in 2016.

Vietnam sent six weightlifters to the games,participated by 72 countries, to compete in the men’s 49kg, 54kg, 59kg, and65kg, and the women’s 50kg and 55kg.-VNA

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. Vietnam's 35-strong squad announced for ASEAN U23 Championship 2025
