Vietnam highly values the European country’s efforts to implement the Aid for Trade programme and offer preferential market access for goods from over 90 developing countries through its Developing Countries Trading Scheme, said Ambassador Mai Phan Dung.

The government intends to ensure the event meets the UN standards and draws broad participation from member states, international organisations, civil society, and technology corporations.
This message also underscores Vietnam’s strong determination to pursue its strategic goals - becoming a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income by 2030, and a developed and high-income nation by 2045, Viet said.
In a context where traditional and non-traditional security challenges are increasingly intertwined, multilateralism is not merely an option but an inevitable path to maintain peace and stability, according to Defence Minister Gen. Phan Van Giang.
Ambassador Do Hung Viet described peacekeeping operations as one of the most concrete and visible manifestations of multilateralism, but stressed the need for reforms and more effective adaptation to evolving global challenges.
The Vietnamese leader noted that it’s now time for the UN to make strong reforms to better adapt to the new context and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its fulfillment of missions.

Viet underlined the key role of science, technology, and innovation in achieving the SDGs, while calling for ensuring equitable access for developing countries to advanced technologies, knowledge, and digital infrastructure through technology transfer, capacity building, and innovation cooperation.
The two leaders shared the view that Vietnam and Sweden should strengthen solidarity and cooperation based on their traditional friendship, through Party, Government, and Parliamentary channels as well as people-to-people exchanges, thereby contributing to the promotion of multilateralism and international solidarity.
Participants pointed out shortcomings and discussed lessons learned as Vietnam is preparing for upcoming major multilateral events, including the signing ceremony of the UN Convention on Countering the Use of ICTs for Criminal Purposes in October 2025 and APEC 2027.
According to the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the upcoming meeting will spotlight a range of global and regional issues, particularly politics and security, global governance reform, and the role of developing countries (the Global South) in promoting multilateralism.
PM Pham Minh Chinh suggested Vietnam and Kenya intensify delegation exchanges, and expand cooperation in defence and security, trade, education and training, clean agriculture, food security, and people-to-people exchanges, especially among younger generations, among other fields.
