Hanoi (VNA) - Myanmar has recently unveiled a master plan for the construction of an expressway network and sub-arterial roads nationwide.

The plan was made under the cooperation between the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Ministry of Construction.

The 9,470-kilometre expressway network, comprising a highway linking Yangon and Myitkyina in the northernmost Kachin state, and the sub-arterial road network with a total length of 34,378 kilometres will be built in the next 20 years.

The Construction Ministry has borrowed 208 million USD from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in 40 years for the construction of bridges and roads, 138 million USD from the Republic of Korea for yet-to-exist Yangon-Dala bridge construction and 80 million USD from the Asian Development Bank for the upgrades of Maubin-Kyaiklat road in Ayeyawady region.

Meanwhile, the country will complete the building of 110 bridges in the current fiscal year.-VNA
