Hanoi (VNA) – Myanmar’s parliament has announced to organise the fifth sessions of both houses in the capital of Nay Pyi Taw on May 18, two months after the fourth sessions ended on March 18.
At the upcoming sittings, a number of laws are expected to be promulgated and parliament representatives chosen in the April by-election will take their oaths.
The April by-election saw the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD), led by Aung San Suu Kyi, winning a total of nine out of 19 vacant seats, consisting of five seats in the House of Representatives, three in the House of Nationalities, and one in the Shan state parliament.
The current parliament was formed through the general election in November 2015, with the NLD party winning a landslide victory.-VNA
