Hanoi (VNA) – Myanmar exported a total of 700,000 tonnes of rice during April-June, the country’s official media reported on July 14.
The country’s exports included Emata rice, Ngasein rice, sticky rice, parboiled rice and broken rice. Main markets of Myanmar rice were member countries of the European Union (EU), South Africa and China.
In the last week of June, the country shipped abroad over 22,000 tonnes of rice. It earned 6.5 million USD from the export during the period.
In the 2016-2017 fiscal year, Myanmar sold 1.5 million tonnes of rice to Asian, EU and African countries, of which 50 percent went to China.
The country is projected to export two million tonnes of rice this fiscal year with expected earnings of 700 million USD, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation.-VNA
