Myanmar 's union parliament will convene its special session on May 20 to deal with some emergency issues arising over recent months.
According to an announcement by Myanmar ’s state TV on May 3, the parliament was earlier scheduled to hold its next session on June 25 after the 6th session ended on March 21.
During the March 21 session, six laws were approved and signed by the President.
These included the bill abrogating the law against opposition and disruption to systematic peaceful transfer of power and national assembly's function, and the bill amending the constitutional tribunal law and civil services law.
Eight other bills were also sent to the President for approval, which included the 2013 Myanmar citizens' investment bill, the 2013- 2014 national planning bill and the 2013 budget bill.
The session also approved Myanmar to sign the 1959 Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards, and to take out official development assistance (ODA) loan from Japan.-VNA
