Myanmar suspends its rice exports

Myanmar has temporarily suspended exporting its rice in a bid to stabilise the growing rice price on the domestic market, rice trading circles said on March 2.
Myanmar has temporarily suspended exporting its rice in a bid to stabilise the growing rice price on the domestic market, rice trading circles said on March 2.

According to the Chinese News Agency Xinhua, the Myanmar authorities asked domestic rice exporters to stop and wait until the summer-harvested rice reaches the market.

Myanmar’s 7-Day News channel reported that the country exported over 300,000 tons of rice from April 2010 to January 2011.

In the fiscal year of 2009-2010, it exported a total of 800,000 tonnes of rice./.
