Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man chaired the first meeting of the Steering Committee for the review of the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW on further renewal and restructuring of political system for greater efficiency.

The NA Chairman said following the issuance of the Resolution in November 2017, the NA issued Resolution 56/2017/QH14 focused on continuing the reform of the state administrative apparatus to be leaner and more effective. This also includes proposed tasks and solutions to renewing and restructuring the organisational apparatus of the NA, its bodies, the NA Standing Committee and the NA Office.

He directed relevant agencies to conduct a proactive and urgent review of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW with a serious, democratic, and scientifically rigorous approach. He underscored the importance of an honest and objective assessment of strengths, shortcomings, obstacles, underlying causes, and lessons learned.

The top legislator tasked the NA Vice chairpersons with leading discussions with agencies under their purview to ensure clear communication and alignment on proposals for renewing and streamlining the organisational apparatus, thus fostering consensus and uniformity in the process.

Proactive efforts to refine laws governing the organisation and operation of the NA and its bodies, the NA Standing Committee and NA Office was also urged. A key focus will be on cultivating a contingent of capable and credible officials, civil servants, and public employees, especially leaders, who possess the skills and integrity necessary to meet the demands of the new context.

Acknowledging the limited time available before submitting the review to the Party Central Steering and the substantial workload ahead, Man urged all relevant agencies to strive to complete these critical tasks effectively./.
