Nearly 1.5 bln VND raised during Miss Vietnam

The Miss Vietnam 2010 Organising Committee said on August 18 that Miss Vietnam Dang Thi Ngoc Han and two runners-up Vu Thi Hoang My and Dang Thuy Trang donated a total of 110 million USD from their prize cash for the Tien Phong (Vanguard) newspaper’s Study Encouragement Fund.

Huynh Bich Phuong, who won Miss Beautiful Face and Most Voted awards at the national beauty contest, contributed 45 million VND to the fund.

Earlier, Miss Vietnam and two runners-up had donated 20 percent of their prizes worth 160 million VND in total for Quang Ninh province’s Social Fund and other social activities initiated by the Organising Board, in line with the contest rules.

Miss Ngoc Han said she would present another 10 million VND to the Cam Pha town’s Social Fund.

The event’s sponsors also donated to disadvantaged people in Quang Ninh. The Lien Viet Bank presented 200 televisions worth 400 billion VND in total; the Military Bank, 50 billion VND; Eurowindow, 50 million VND and Tien Phong newspaper’s Study Encouragement Fund, 15 million VND.

During the Gala Dinner, businesses in Quang Ninh province and guests contributed nearly 600 million VND for the provincial fund for studious pupils and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s fund for former young volunteers./.
