The Vietnamese car manufacturing company Thaco ledthe market with 6,603 cars sold. Toyota came in second with 3,880 carsand Ford Vietnam sold only 1,747 cars during the period.
Thesales of commercial cars in May reached 7,796 units, up five percent,and tourism cars 8,946 units, down 5.1 percent. Specialised cars hit1,179 units, down 10 percent from the previous month.
The numberof cars assembled in the country was 14,032, a 0.4 percent increase.Vietnam imported 3,889 cars, down 7 percent from April.
Totalsales of the sector in the first five months of this year reached 84,806cars, surging 58 percent from the same period last year. Of the figure,tourism cars rushed 88 percent and commercial cars rocketed 103percent.
