The Community of Royalist People Party (CRPP) led by Cambodian Prince Norodom Ranariddh made its debut on June 6 at its new headquarters in Russei Keo district in Phnom Penh, marking its official participation in the country’s politics.
The party’s inaugural also aims at preparing for the 2018 general election in the country.
The CRPP will gather royalists to serve the country, Prince Norodom Ranariddh told a crowd of about 20 supporters at the event.
He said he is confident that the CRPP will have its representative in the National Assembly after the poll in 2018.
Ranariddh also called on the ruling Cambodian People’s Party and the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party to resume negotiations and settle post-election disputes for the national interest.
Prince Norodom Ranariddh, 70, the eldest son of the late King Norodom Sihanouk, is currently the president of the Supreme Privy Advisory Council to King Norodom Sihamoni.
